Help with no text problems.

I know installing this mod fixes the text problems but I do NOT like the mod but would like to know how to fix the no text problems due to a too powerful graphics card. I have tried the startengine fix but it has no effect at all I have tried everything I could find on this site to no effect EXCEPT installing RoS mod. I find the game boring and nearly impossible with the mod installed however. I tried going the RPG route like I usually do but the AI sent 40 or so dragons after me within the first 20 minutes of the game or so. not to mention a dozen trolls and many others. I tried RTS and despite the fact that my soldier producer was built immediatly and was on infinite production I couldn't begin to counter the AI's insane megahorde and they were all on very easy :/ makes me feel moronic and that feeling is not why I play games.
